The United States Men’s National Team, host of Copa America 2024, will open the tournament’s Group C action when it faces Bolivia at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, at 5 p.m. local time.

The U.S. team is favored against a weak Bolivia which is currently also in a rebuilding stage. Led by coach, Greg Berhalter, the USMNT is tasked with cementing being number one in Concacaf, after winning the Gold Cup where they sealed their regional supremacy over Mexico the former long-time leader in Concacaf.
The U.S. will seek to beat the Bolivians for the first time in its history, who this year appear as one of the least competitive teams in the continental championship.
They are currently in next to last place (ninth) of the South American qualifiers, only above Peru, which means that they will most likely not participate in the 2026 World Cup taking place across the U.S., Mexico and Canada.

The United States has not been very successful in this, the oldest international soccer tournament in the world. The team will take part in its fifth Copa America. Their last participation was in the 2016 Copa America Centennial Cup, also as hosts. On that occasion, the USA reached the semifinals.
In other appearances, they advanced to the semi-finals in Uruguay 1995 (their best result) but failed to make it past the group stage in Venezuela (2007) and Ecuador (1993).
This time around, the United States comes to the tournament with a new crop of highly talented players such as Christian Pulisic, who has shone brightly at Chelsea in the Premier League. There are also other solid players such as Weston McKennie (Juventus), Yunus Musah (AC Milan), Gio Reyna (Nottingham Forest) and Wesh (Juventus), who have provided a great boost to the team that plays with a 1-4-3-3 tactical system.
Bolivia, is led by the Brazilian coach, Antonio Zago. His greatest achievement was helping win Copa America as a player for the Brazilian national team in 1999. The Bolivian team itself has won Copa America only once, in 1963 when they were hosts. The team has only managed to pass the Group stage in 6 of their 28 participations.
Most of its squad plays in the local Bolivian club league, so names such as Gabriel Villamil of the University League of Quito and Miguel Ángel Tercero (Miguelito) of Santos of Brazil are not well known.
Their coach Zago likes to play with a 1-4-5-1 formation, however, as well as two other tactical schemes, but this is expected to be the one he will use against the United States.
The United States and Bolivia are in Group C along with Uruguay and Panama.
